Trauma unfortunately effects us all, and if untreated can lead to severe pain, mental health or substance use. One definition of Trauma is "An event, series of events experienced or generationally passed down that effects us past our ability to cope" Trauma can include, but is not limited to: Abuse (physical, verbal, emotional, psychological, etc.), threat of safety, natural disasters, accidents, generational pain, witnessing pain or death, and much more. 

It can be vital to support people that witness or experience trauma in a timely fashion. This can include counselling services in many different forms by someone trained in trauma recovery. Unfortunately, Trauma Counselling is not funded by the Canadian health system, or is only available in very limited capacities. Therefore, people continue to be in a state of pain, which when it turns to mental health or substance use concerns, is where the Canadian Health System provides free services, at its most costly and painful state. 

So why not make Trauma Counselling Free to save people from their pain in a timely manner?
