Make Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4 a Street-Level Movie and released in 2026

Make Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4 a Street-Level Movie and released in 2026

The Issue

Dear Marvel and Sony,

Recent rumors have indicated that Marvel Studios and Sony have different opinions on the upcoming Spider-Man 4 film. Apparently, Sony wants another multiverse Spider-Man movie similar to No Way Home while Kevin Feige and Tom Holland want to keep the movie street-leveled. After the events of No Way Home, where Doctor Strange erased everyone's memories of Peter Parker, it would only make sense to make the upcoming movie a street-level movie rather than a multiversal one. No Way Home even sets up the MCU Spider-Man to be more of a street-level hero: he lives in a cheap apartment and sews his own comic-accurate suit.

There are also rumors about Sony Pictures insisting that Spider-Man 4 be completed and released in 2025. On the other hand, Marvel Studios wants to push back the movie's release in 2026 and join it with the release of Avengers 5. It is quite evident that Marvel already has a heavy schedule in 2025: Thunderbolts, The Fantastic Four, Blade and Captain America: Brave New World are all important movies that would shape the MCU's future. Adding Spider-Man 4 to this heavy schedule will certainly not help the overall quality of movies. By pushing Spider-Man 4 until 2026, Marvel will have more time to ensure the movie's quality.

I think I am speaking for the majority of Spider-Man fans when I say that we don't want to see a rushed Spider-Man 4; we can wait a little more if it's for a well-made sequel. A recent example is Across the Spider-Verse, released in 2023. This sequel was released five years after the release of the first movie (Into the Spider-Verse) in 2018, and I think the majority of fans thought it was worth the wait.

Spider-Man is one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Universe. So please, Marvel and Sony, make Spider-Man 4 good for the sake of the MCU's future, us fans, and Stan Lee.
