Make the Kentucky Black Bear a “State Animal”

Make the Kentucky Black Bear a “State Animal”
The Issue
The time is right for Kentucky citizens of every walk of life to come together to reassess the issuance of Bear hunting licenses. By anyone’s calculus, there are less than 500 Black Bears in our Commonwealth. They are not meat animals and are not a significant pest problem at this time.
To raise awareness of this issue, the Green Party of Kentucky calls on the Citizenry, Legislature, and Governor of our Commonwealth to join those of the States of Alabama, Louisiana, New Mexico, and West Virginia by honoring the Black Bear as a “State Animal.”
