Make the Grammy Awards Globally Streamable

Make the Grammy Awards Globally Streamable
The Issue
I am an avid music lover and for me, one of the annual highlights is the Grammy Awards. However, in my experience, as well as for many global fans, it has become a struggle to watch this prestigious event due to limited streaming availability outside the United States. Just recently, I contracted a computer virus while attempting to watch the show on an unreliable platform.
For decades, the Grammy Awards have showcased the pinnacle of musical talent and innovation, gaining immense popularity around the world. Sadly, non-US residents often have to resort to streaming from unofficial and unsafe websites, posing serious risks to our devices as well as our personal security.
Moreover, the restriction denies many international fans of the opportunity to participate in real-time discussions about the event, dampening the global community spirit that music is known to foster. Consistent with the Recording Academy’s mission to recognize artistic excellence and create a cultural appreciation and understanding of various types of music, it is high time this far-reaching event be made accessible to all corners of the world.
To abandon these geographical restrictions not only assures millions of international music fans a seamless way to enjoy the event, but it will also promote a safer digital environment by avoiding potential virus threats caused by illegal streaming sites.
In order to serve the global music community better, we sincerely urge the Grammy Awards and the Recording Academy to reconsider their streaming policy and make the event available to everyone, everywhere. It’s 2025; accessibility should not be a privilege, but a right. Please sign this petition to advocate for a truly global Grammy Awards experience.
