Make the Netflix Stickers actual stickers that can be pulled off the cover
The Issue
As a person who likes to read a lot, I also thoroughly enjoy the covers. I feel the covers are also a significant part of the reading experience. I often enjoy looking back and admiring at how gorgeous the cover is when I'm reading. The issue I see here is that once the book is adapted to some form of movie or TV show, the Netflix sticker is added to the cover.
It is great that Netflix is trying to get the readers to watch the adaptation of the movie, but I also know that many readers hate the fact that the stickers are non-removable. I know that many readers often wish for the fact that the Netflix sticker has some sort of way of coming off. In fact, I recently saw someone post a question, which was, "Does anyone have any good ideas on how to cover these ugly Netflix 'stickers'?" I know for a fact that many people find them gross and disgusting and want them removed because they ruin the whole illusion of the cover.
I am aware that many readers, like myself, go on the internet to find used copies of their favourite books just because they don't include the Netflix stickers. I feel this is unjust because many of the used books are battered and destroyed with broken covers and cracked spines, when they would be so much happier with a brand-new copy with that fresh book smell and that we love so much. I have several copies of books that have Netflix stickers, which include some of my favourites (Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom).
A lot of books with adaptations also get what we like to call "movie covers". Some of them are good, but some just incite a deep rage in me that I just want to rip the cover off. I feel that if we cannot get rid of movie covers, we should at least get rid of the fake Netflix sticker.
The point of this entire petition isn't to get rid of Netflix advertising their adaptations. It is for the ability to still have that advertisement, but for the stickers to be removable and to not ruin the illusion of the cover designs.
