As residents of the Deer Springs neighborhood in Calabasas, we are deeply concerned about the growing danger at the intersection of Cold Springs Street and Lost Hills Road.

Every day, we witness drivers blowing through stop signs, speeding, and failing to yield, creating hazardous conditions for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike. This reckless behavior has already resulted in multiple near misses and actual collisions, putting our children, families, and pets at serious risk.

Most alarmingly, large dump trucks involved in wildfire cleanup are frequently traveling on Lost Hills Rd— often engaging in various traffic violations. Due to their size, these vehicles significantly increase the risk of serious collisions, making near-misses especially alarming.

We urge the City of Calabasas to take immediate, comprehensive action by implementing real safety solutions, including:

• Installing speed bumps ahead of stop signs

• Adding a traffic signal or roundabout to safely manage traffic flow

• Improving signage to clearly indicate stop signs and alert drivers 

• Installing traffic cameras to monitor and enforce compliance. 

These changes aren’t just about improving traffic — they’re about saving lives. No one should feel unsafe walking their dog, riding a bike, or letting their child cross the street in their own neighborhood.
