Make the Ceasefire Real: Demand UN Monitors in Gaza

The Issue

Every ceasefire means nothing without eyes on the ground.

We’ve seen it before: declarations of “peace” that dissolve within days while civilians continue to suffer. As calls for a ceasefire in Gaza grow, we must insist on more than promises — we must demand accountability.

We call on the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and the UN General Assembly to immediately create and deploy an Independent Ceasefire Verification Mission for Gaza and the West Bank, composed of neutral international observers with the following powers:

    •    Unrestricted access to all affected areas

    •    Public, real-time reporting of violations by any party

    •    Authority to refer violations to the International Criminal Court

    •    Guaranteed protection for humanitarian aid corridors and journalists

This mission must be supported and co-sponsored by countries that have already shown moral leadership on Gaza — including Ireland, South Africa, Chile, Malaysia, and Bolivia.

A ceasefire without verification is not peace — it’s a pause before the next attack.

Once this petition reaches 100,000 signatures, it will be formally delivered to the United Nations Secretary-General and to the permanent missions of the above-mentioned countries in New York, calling on them to sponsor a resolution for a Ceasefire Verification Mission under the UN General Assembly’s “Uniting for Peace” framework.

Copies will also be sent to:

    •    The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)

    •    The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)

    •    Members of the UN Security Council who have voted for previous ceasefire resolutions

Delivery updates, responses, and any official correspondence will be posted publicly on this petition page and shared on social media to ensure full transparency.

Add your name to demand that this ceasefire be real, lasting, and enforced.
