This petition is to support legally owning sugar gliders in Australia as an alternative to cats. Feral cats threaten the survival of over 100 native species in Australia. They have caused the extinction of some ground-dwelling birds and small to medium-sized mammals. They are a major cause of decline for many land-based endangered animals.

Sugar gliders on the other hand are native to Australia and don't harm the environment.

Sugar gliders are easy to own, clean, cheap to feed and cute! These little critters are compact and grow to only 1.3 kg. Pet sugar gliders would be sold by registered breeders, not taken from the wild. 

Did you know that in USA sugar glider pets are already legal!? They are not even native there.
