Make Sky: Children of the Light more user-friendly!
The Issue
Sky: Children of the Light is a well-loved game that encourages players to make friends, enjoy beautiful scenery, and express their creativity. It pulls people into a meaningful adventure where they create lasting memories along the way.
However, over the years, these positive aspects are starting to be overshadowed by growing issues:
- Too many back-to-back events for players to fully enjoy them
- Expensive items that affect both old and new players
- Bug reporting systems that are complicated and hard to access
- Very limited support for new players beyond basic tutorials
Our beloved game about social connection and exploration is slowly turning into an endless grind for candles just to buy the newest “limited” items. With more events being added every year, players are constantly racing against the clock to get the cosmetics they want.
Some may argue that buying items is a matter of choice. However, new players (or moths) don’t have the same freedom. This isn’t a major issue for seasoned players who already own many cosmetics, but moths are starting from nothing. They feel pressured to work overtime just to catch up, which often leaves them feeling left behind.
When ticket-based items get replaced by candle items as soon as an event ends, missing even one event can feel like a costly setback for newer players. No matter how beautiful or entertaining events are, they often end up feeling like another grind rather than something exciting.
Another major concern is the number of bugs being reported but not properly addressed. While “helpful” bugs that benefit players tend to be fixed quickly, many genuine player complaints struggle to be heard.
The current bug reporting system (including the official website, Discord, Facebook, Gmail, and surveys) is either difficult to access or overly complicated. (I’ve personally tried ALL of these by following the exact steps and received NO replies.) On top of that, clear step-by-step instructions for reporting bugs are difficult to find unless you search for them specifically.
Lastly, new players are constantly joining but quitting shortly due to a lack of meaningful support. Despite rising prices for both IAPs and free items, little has been done to balance the experience for newcomers.
Many new players don’t know how to farm candles or understand event ticket systems, which creates a growing barrier between old and new players. This widening gap makes the game harder to enjoy and less welcoming over time.
These are some of the reasons why the entry barrier to enjoying Sky is getting higher each year. As a result, some players leave early despite the game’s many beautiful and meaningful qualities.
So that’s why I propose the following changes to make Sky: Children of the Light more user-friendly:
- Lower the cost of items to make them more accessible to new players
- Increase the daily candle collection limit
- Less back-to-back events to give players a break
- Make communication between players and developers more accessible and transparent
- Provide new players with starting currency to help balance the inflation of item costs within the game
I love Sky because of the connections it creates and the comfort it gives players around the world. This petition isn’t meant to criticize the game, but to help it grow in a healthier and more welcoming direction. By improving accessibility, balance, and communication, Sky can remain a place where both new and longtime players feel valued. We hope the developers will listen to the community’s voices and continue shaping Sky into a meaningful experience for all!
