📢 Shelton New Road Petition – Update Speeding and red light jumping.

A positive update following the concerns raised through our petition and discussions with Highways.
Highways have now confirmed that speed monitoring on Shelton New Road recorded an all-day road average of 35.7 mph, with the worst recorded section at 39.8 mph.
Importantly, Highways have confirmed that both figures meet their threshold for a feasibility study into mitigation measures.
The wider Shelton New Road junction and cycling improvements are also being developed with the intention of creating a narrower street feel that may help reduce vehicle speeds, and further speed monitoring is planned to assess the effectiveness of the proposals.
Concerns about vehicles running red lights around the Brick Kiln Lane/Robert Knox Way junction have also been raised. Highways have confirmed that this is an enforcement matter involving Staffordshire Police and the Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP). We are seeking confirmation of the next steps and whether the location will be formally assessed for appropriate enforcement measures.
Thank you to everyone who signed the petition and continues to report genuine road-safety incidents. We’ll keep residents updated as things progress. 💜
