The Issue

Dear Attorney General Rob Bonta,

Twenty years ago, on a day etched in heartbreak, Sharon Santos, a 30-year-old Filipino American, was abducted from Burbank, assaulted, and found murdered in the trunk of her car in Chinatown. The pain of her loss reverberates to this day, magnified by the fact that her killer still walks free.

Sharon was more than the senseless tragedy that ended her life. She was a trailblazer and a dreamer, a daughter and a sister, a friend and a colleague. As a senior financial analyst at Warner Bros., she excelled in her career while nurturing passions that showcased her adventurous and creative spirit. She studied Mt. Kilauea with the U.S. Geological Survey, earned a degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, enjoyed creating jewelry, ornaments and paintings, and took to the skies with pilot lessons and skydiving.

Her mother, Edna, now 80 years old, has waited painfully for answers about her daughter’s death. The urgency to bring resolution to Sharon’s case grows stronger with each passing day.

We, The SHARE Team (Support, Honor, Advocate, Raise Awareness, Engage), are calling on you to take decisive action. In the spirit of bayanihan, the Filipino tradition of communal unity and support, we urge you to bring the power of your office to bear in Sharon’s case.

Your leadership as Attorney General and as a prominent Filipino American can unite Sharon’s community and amplify the urgency of her case. Together, with your support and the rallying of this community, we can ensure that Sharon’s legacy is honored and justice is finally served.

We respectfully ask you to:

  • Support Burbank PD to thoroughly investigate Sharon’s case
  • Provide oversight and ensure her case receives the attention and expertise required to pursue justice
  • Stand with a family and community that has waited two decades for answers and closure

To our friends, family, and supporters: Your signatures represent the collective power of bayanihan, a call to action to ensure Sharon’s life is remembered, not just for the tragedy of its end, but for the justice we will achieve in her name.

Attorney General Bonta, we urge you to take action. Let Sharon’s story and legacy remind us all of the importance of accountability and compassion. Your involvement can help bring long-overdue closure to Sharon’s family while sending a powerful message to others waiting for justice: their voices matter, and their pain is not forgotten.

Sincerely,
The SHARE Team (Support, Honor, Advocate, Raise Awareness, Engage)
On behalf of Sharon’s family, friends and supporters
