Our families, our children and our grandchildren constitute just a fraction of the 12,000 cars that travel Route B between Columbia and Hallsville each day. Yet even a single crash is alarming, let alone the 12 crashes recorded in the past year, one of which involved a school bus carrying our precious children. These alarming events alone sent 18 people to the hospital. Safety on Route B is no longer an abstract concern. It is a stark reality that exposes our loved ones to significant risk on a daily basis. 

Although Route B urgently needs to be transformed into a three-lane road with a center turn lane, MoDot currently has no immediate or future plans for the necessary improvements. Our families, our children, and our grandchildren deserve better. They deserve safe roads where they can travel without fear.

Let’s remind MoDot that every road carries not just cars but people too. It's time that the importance of human lives is prioritized and urgent actions are taken to improve Route B.
