Thanks to all who have signed, shared and contributed funding to my petition about the secrecy that allows rodeo operators to hide their cruelty.
The NSW Minister responsible for the laws protecting rodeos, the Hon. Tara Moriarty MLC, is conducting a review of both the overriding legislation and the Code of Practice governing rodeos.
I will soon be lodging my petition with the NSW Premier and with Minister Moriarty, calling on them to take note of all the voices which have spoken out against rodeos and demanding change, with the current reviews offering a good opportunity for that change.
Rodeos are extremely dangerous for people and animals. The only difference is that the animals can't choose not to be there. Rodeo operators have no obligation to disclose the injuries and deaths of animals abused in these events, and that must change. It will be a first step in helping the broader community understand what appalling cruelty goes on as part of this so-called "sport".
Politicians only listen when enough people speak out, so please take this opportunity to share this petition once again, and boost the number of signatures to a level that will have an impact on government.
Thank you all for caring about our animal friends.
And thanks to AnimalKind for use of the photo attached.
