Hi all!

I know it has been a while since the last update, but I thought I better share with everyone what I have learned/experienced since my own hysterectomy. Now remember, this is MY experience, and everyone is different, but I share nonetheless.

A hysterectomy is a major surgery, if you've never had a major surgery, be aware that it definitely takes 8 weeks to recover, do NOT expect sooner. With all major surgeries, a common thing to have happen is "post-op blues". Now, add in a hormone disruption (even if keeping the ovaries!), and you have got moments of crying over NOTHING! Moreso than before! I cried over not being able to learn how to crochet straight away. I cried because I was tired. I just cried.

My mind was foggy and my abdomen was SORE! I celebrated being able to put my own pants on! Even if I did put them on backwards!

And I've been told to be patient with working out as it can take anywhere from 12 to 24 months to rebuild the core muscles from the surgery.

Now, three months on from surgery, would I do it all over again? That would be an ABSOLUTELY HELL YES!!! I feel alot better than I did before, even while still figuring out workouts and energy levels. I still have a while to go before I am 100% but I am definitely happy with the decision.

Now WHY would any doctor refuse a WOMAN to have a hysterectomy if the chances of her feeling better and becoming more productive are high? They often get fed up with seeing us so often in doctors clinics, why not have us in there less by just giving the damn hysterectomy?? Or any other reproductive surgery we choose that allows us to have better control of our body, like stopping hormonal contraceptive pills or implants?

Let's keep this petition going!

Thank you!!!
