As a loyal user of RateYourMusic, it's disheartening to experience the disproportionate nature of their genre ban system. Many fellow users alongside myself have encountered the inexplicably long genre ban duration and various unfair ban on any innocent users on RateYourMusic. These genre bans can last up to a year for minor violations, leaving us baffled and frustrated. It's as though the punishment exceeds the crime, with the measures being both harsh and inequitable.

RateYourMusic plays a significant role in our community, fostering a platform where music lovers can congregate, share, and discuss their thoughts and opinions. However, when genre bans are enforced that lack fairness and consistency, it not only affects individual users but the entire community. We are advocating for a more transparent, fair, and proportional system that doesn't alienate committed users due to unclear guidelines or extreme penalties.

You know, while i was just completely being a bigot and doing anything on one of the most the most important rules of genre votings on some of these "releases" for some absolute reasons which it was just literally that stupid and really promising just for fun to do with it and i decided to left it to see what it will just really happen to my account on RYM and as a result, i was just got completely genre banned just for once.

Instead of spamming/harrasing all of the staffs and moderations on RateYourMusic i was just trying to fix my own appeal on genre ban to make it more perfect and "meaningful" to do with it and the literal result was just got permanently banned on RateYourMusic forever. My father and i are just literally trying to appeal to bring my very own RYM account back but they would never care about us, so i was just literally starting to grew aware of what happened to all of the communities of RateYourMusic and the moderators are just slowly tearing its own legendary users one to one and being completely strict all the time and as a real result i was just being hopeless to save it all, once and for all. (Even the father was really so furious onto the moderators of RateYourMusic for being too strict and totalitarian all the time which it was literally makes sense and hopeful to me!)

To make RateYourMusic a better platform for all, we propose the following solutions:

1. **Transparency in Policy:** Clearly outline violations and their respective consequences. This ensures every user understands the guidelines and the reasons behind genre bans.

2. **Proportionate Genre Ban Durations:** Implement a tiered approach to penalties, where minor offenses result in warnings or short suspensions, rather than the automatic year-long genre bans currently in place.

3. **Appeals System:** Establish a formal process where users can appeal against those unfair genre bans. This would allow for re-examination of cases and reassessment of penalties in a fair and structured manner.

Data from other online platforms indicate significant disparities in moderation outcomes, often leading to community dissatisfaction. With a restructured system, RateYourMusic could ensure fairness, user satisfaction, and ongoing engagement.
