Hi all,
Happy New Year! Here's to 2020 being a year of progress in the fight against street harassment. On that note, check out this recent Grazia article about a campaign we've been working with closely that raises awareness about the street harassment disabled women and non-binary people face. As I said in the article,
"We are trying really hard on this campaign to put to the forefront the fact that disabled women are twice as likely to experience sexual assault and harassment,' Maya told Grazia. "It is something we don't speak about enough, so we are trying to raise awareness of all these issues."
Check out Dr Amy Kavanagh's takeover of our Instagram in which she spoke about the exclusion of disabled women from movements like #MeToo and Time's Up.
If you yourself have a story to share about your experience of street harassment as a disabled women or non-binary person, you can submit it on the campaign's blog to be part of their research project.
We've also got lots of exciting announcements lined up in the coming weeks so do keep an eye on our social media channels - our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Speak soon,
Maya
