Make Providing Fentanyl Resulting in Death a Federal Crime

The Issue

On February 27th, I lost my precious  daughter to fentanyl. She battled with drug addiction for several years and despite her best efforts, she was unable to quit using this deadly substance. This personal tragedy is unfortunately not unique; nearly 100,000 people die annually from fentanyl-related overdoses in the United States alone (source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50-100 times more potent than morphine. It's often mixed with other drugs without the user's knowledge, leading to accidental overdoses and death (source: National Institute on Drug Abuse). The current laws are inadequate when it comes to punishing those who supply fentanyl that results in death.

We propose making it a federal crime if someone dies from fentanyl provided by another individual. This will not only serve as a deterrent but also ensure justice for victims like my daughter and the countless others who have lost their lives too soon.

This change won't bring back our loved ones, but it can prevent future tragedies and hold accountable those who profit from this deadly trade. Please sign this petition to make providing fentanyl resulting in death a federal crime.
