There are many people who not only live near the park but who travel to this park with their dogs for the great dog environment it provides. There is a strong dog dynamic in this neighborhood and many people enjoy "dog play dates" and the ability of their dogs to run freely with other dogs who live in the area.

While there are many children and families who also frequent this park, most children and families utilize the playground more than the grassy fields. Additionally, there are two separate and distinct grass areas. One of these areas could easily be designated as an off-leash area for the dogs while reserving the other grass field for the families and children

An alternative to making part of the park off-leash would be to designate certain hours when off-leash is allowed.  It is proposed that off-leash hours would be from dawn to 10 am and from an hour and half before sunset to an hour after sunset.
