Make parking free for NHS staff

The Issue

As an NHS worker, I face the daily challenge of finding a parking spot near my workplace. Often, I have to park down the hill, where parking is uncertain and not guaranteed. Alternatively, I end up paying for parking, only to sacrifice an hour's worth of wages just to have my car parked while I work.

This struggle is not just mine but impacts countless dedicated NHS staff who are essential to our healthcare system. We spend long hours caring for patients and going above and beyond to ensure that the public receives the best care. It seems unfair that we should also shoulder the burden of costly parking fees on top of everything else. According to UNISON, some NHS workers pay up to £1,300 a year on parking, draining already stretched incomes.

Making staff parking free at NHS facilities would alleviate part of the financial strain on healthcare workers. It is a small, yet significant way to show appreciation and support for the tireless work of NHS staff who are committed to public health.

We urge healthcare authorities and government bodies to take immediate steps in ensuring that NHS staff have accessible and free parking. It would not only aid staff financially, but also improve morale and job satisfaction, enabling workers to focus entirely on patient care without the added stress of parking costs.

Sign this petition to support NHS staff and advocate for free parking in all NHS facilities. Let’s stand together for a change that truly benefits those who care for us every day.
