Make Park City High Great Again
The Issue
With the new admin at PCHS, there have been changes that have been vehemently opposed by the student body:
Locked & Alarmed Doors: All side doors are sealed, even for students with ID badges. This makes it hard to move during the day and is essentially locking us in the schools.
Strict Hall Passes: The new electronic pass system gives only 6 minutes. If time runs out, staff come searching and "escort" students back to class even when it’s for real reasons like medical needs or fixing a laptop. It creates unnecessary hassle and embarrassment.
Open Campus: Historically, PCHS has had an open campus for all, but as of this year, they are restricting it to upperclassmen. This not only makes the student body resentful, but also punishes lower-classmen for things they didn't do.
Why It Matters
- Students who want to skip class will still find a way, but everyone else is being punished.
- These rules embarrass students, make school feel restrictive, and widens the divide between students and staff
- Safety and learning should not come at the cost of the student experience
What We are Asking
- Unlock side doors to student ID badges during school hours
- More flexibility with Hall passes- 10 or 15 minutes isn't the end of the world
- Create policies that support students, not make them feel controlled.
