It is no secret New York City has a serious trash problem. Since the pandemic that issued a $106 million budget cut, it has only worsened. About 30% of trash sent to landfills in methane emitting garbage trucks can be recycled and reused and there has been talk about programs that would enforce recycling, but it hasn't gone further than that.
