We who call Morris Green, Bolton our home, have born witness to the unsettling reality of poorly regulated roads posing eminent danger to the safety of our community. Too many of us have had near misses while legally crossing the road, and the last straw was the unfortunate incident where an elderly person lost their life due to reckless driving. There are too many learners and qualified drivers on these roads, including my own children, whose safety I fear for every day.

The volume of traffic in our area has increased, in part due to the overpopulation of the area and the concentration of schools in close proximity to each other. Regrettably, our roads, particularly around Morris Green, are becoming frequently used as racetracks, showing a blatant and horrifying disregard for the law and the sanctity of life.

As a standing community of 3,000 members, we call on the relevant authorities to take immediate action to enhance road safety measures. It is right and necessary that the tranquility of our neighborhood be restored and the streets that we so frequently traverse be made secure for drivers, pedestrians, and the numerous school children in the area.

This is not just a matter of public convenience, but of public security. As the heart of this community, we demand immediate action, so that none of us have to endure more incidents that endanger our well-being and shake our peace of heart.
