So, today (March 30, 2022) Moon Knight released on Disney+. I discovered prior that it received a TV-14 rating in the US, as did previous MCU series such as Hawkeye, Loki and WandaVision. However, this series has received a 16+ rating in the UK and Ireland. And before you start to blame the BBFC saying “This is the same as Batman”, the BBFC, (or the Irish rating system) has no say on what rating a Disney+ show gets. In fact, these rating systems are vastly different. Here is a rundown. British: G, PG, 12A, 15, 18. Ireland (Home media): G, PG, 12, 15, 18. Disney+: 0+, 6+, 9+, 12+, 14+, 16+, 18+. As you can see, neither country has a 16+ rating for home media releases. Disney+ is tossing random ratings which is mostly fair game but giving different ratings depending on country is a bit too far. Please sign this petition to get Disney / Marvel / Disney+ to either a) give Moon Knight the same 14+ rating in the UK as it has in the US, or b) use the actually official rating systems for the countries.
