For a very long time, the Genshin Impact community has been well aware of Mihoyo’s blatant racism. From the whitewashing of their own characters, refusing to give proper darker skin tones to poc, having little to no dark skinned people of color in their games, & even the racist disaster of a character that is Carole Peppers, Mihoyo has proven time & time again that they do not care enough about dark skinned poc to properly represent them, with the new leaks of the Sumeru characters cementing this idea.

From the mess of design that is Kusanali, to racist orientalist stereotype that is Dori, Mihoyo has once again failed us to provide proper representation to dark skinned poc. Every Sumeru character with the exception of 2 out of 8 is pale skinned, despite 4 out of 8 of the pale characters being from Sumeru itself. Even the characters who are darker skinned are as lightened as possible, with one of them coming off as tan at best.

This is absolutely unacceptable, as Sumeru is supposed to be a country based on the heart the Middle East, where almost all of the entirety of the population is dark skinned poc. Mihoyo once again doubling down on pale & white washed characters cements just how little they care about the dark skinned poc in the game, & in real life. This cannot be allowed to continue any further. So, in order to hopefully bring attention to these injustices, I started this petition in hopes of possibly getting Mihoyo to change their mind & give poc the representation they deserve.
