We'd like to direct the Met Office to publish raw weather radar data, including Doppler velocity and dual-polarisation products, under an open licence, or introduce an affordable public-interest pricing tier for storm chasers, independent researchers and app developers.

The Met Office runs a national radar network producing reflectivity, Doppler velocity and dual-polarisation data. Rainfall composite imagery is already open, but raw velocity and dual-pol data, vital for spotting rotation, hail and severe convection, stay inaccessible: they sit behind costly licences or require formal research access via CEDA.
This shuts out storm chasers, citizen scientists, radar app developers and independent researchers without institutional backing.
