Make menstrual products accessible to all

Make menstrual products accessible to all

The Issue

Throughout my life, I’ve watched too many women face the monthly challenge of having periods without always having access to necessary menstrual products. It is a source of stress, anxiety, and sometimes embarrassment, not because of the natural bodily process, but because some people aren’t sure they will have what they need to manage it comfortably. This personal experience has opened my eyes to a larger issue that affects so many women across various communities.

Access to menstrual products is a basic necessity, not a luxury, yet financial barriers continue to prevent countless women from obtaining these essential items. Did you know that 1 in 5 American girls miss school due to lack of period protection? (source: Always Confidence & Puberty Survey). This isn't just a personal issue; it's an educational and economic one that affects future opportunities and equality.

On average, a women spends upwards of $18,000 for menstrual products throughout their lifetime. (source: Huffington Post) For many, this cost is prohibitive, leading them to make impossible choices between purchasing these products and other critical needs. This is unacceptable.

We need legislative action and policy changes that ensure free or subsidized menstruation products are made available everywhere; such as schools, shelters, and workplaces. Countries like Scotland have already taken the lead by offering free period products to those who need them. It is time for us to follow suit and ensure that menstrual equity becomes a reality here too.

Let's come together to demand that our policymakers take this issue seriously and commit to making menstrual products accessible to all who need them. No one should have to sacrifice their health, dignity, or education because they cannot afford basic healthcare products.

Sign this petition to make change happen and help secure menstrual equity for everyone in our community. Your support can be the catalyst that makes necessary and impactful progress possible. Please join us in making sure that periods don't stop opportunities or life itself!
