"In less than one month, six black people have been found hanging from trees, in California, Georgia, New York, Oregon and Texas. Authorities say that all of these deaths appear to be suicides, with no signs of foul play. But family members of the deceased, protesters and activists, and some scholars of anti-black violence are intuitively suspicious about those conclusions." - The Washington Post
Black Males are 60% less likely to commit suicide than white males, and the majority of black men that sadly do commit suicide, do so using a firearm. For 6 Black men to suddenly commit suicide during this time or fighting racial injustice - among being found hanging near schools, fire departments, ACROSS FROM CITY COUNCIL BUILDINGS - would be extremely unlikely.
The number of hangings within the past month is statistically significant.
I encourage us to call on the FBI to investigate these crimes and encourage our Congress to make changes to our legal system to send a message to those who commit these hate crimes against the slain, our communities, and our entire nation.
Over 90% of those who commit lynchings are not prosecuted for the crimes they commit... Let's not perpetuate this practice across America.
Encourage our government to act now by signing this petition.
