Make Lyft give refunds for both US and Canadian riders- No more "no-refund" policy!

The Issue

On December 20, 2024, I took a Lyft ride from work to a nearby Sonic location to pick up food, and then to home.

The driver had to be the most uncourteous/least professional driver I have ever had, personally. As we were on our way, he used an inefficient route and made almost a right turn, to a closed elementary school, but I guided him. Then, as we arrived at the Sonic location, I got out of his car and walked up to an order station to pick up my food, submitted from Grubhub.

Then, the driver went outside and smoked on the driveway. As I was coming back to his car, he threw his cigarette to the ground and put it out, which made the car have a bad tobacco smell. The driver again took another inefficient route, where he made a U-turn on a left turn only lane, at an intersection.

Lastly, as we were getting close to my home, he opened his door and threw out his water, on the road. Most importantly, I got home safe fortunately.

I immediately contacted Lyft’s help line, and they only gave me $5 off, for a next ride. I wanted a refund, but Lyft has a no refund policy, which is personally unfair & greedy for riders if a reimbursement is not allowed, especially when it comes to risky and/or unprofessional rides such as this. Still, riders should always be truthful of reports, and Lyft should actually take the appropriate measures of verifying reports such as this, with local authorities if applicable.

Therefore, Lyft should just remove their no-refund policy, for the assurance of riders' safety & care for quality, in both the United States and Canada.

Personally, I tried to even contact my bank for a chargeback, but they couldn't do it as I went with Lyft's terms of service, which related to this situation, only allows arbitration for disputes like this which can be time-consuming & expensive.

Please sign and/or share this petition, for if you want a safer future of Lyft & hopefully the rideshare industry.

Thank you,

Jackson C.
