We, Apple users and fans, are calling on Apple to rename the Files app across iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro, and give it a brand-new app icon in the likeness of Lil’ Finder Guy.

 

❕WHO IS LIL’ FINDER GUY?

In early March 2026, Apple introduced the MacBook Neo, a budget-friendly Mac aimed at a new generation of users. Tucked into the promotional TikTok content for the Neo was something nobody expected: a tiny, chubby, blue-and-white character based on the iconic Mac Finder icon. The internet immediately fell in love.

Dubbed “Lil’ Finder Guy” by fans, the character went viral almost instantly, inspiring fan art, 3D prints, stickers, wallpapers, and millions of views across social media. Apple has since leaned into his popularity, featuring him in a growing series of Mac tip videos on TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

Lil’ Finder Guy is his own character, inspired by the classic Finder icon that has lived on Macs since 1984, but fully his own: rounder, more expressive, and full of personality.

We believe Lil’ Finder Guy belongs on every Apple device besides the Mac’s and Macbook’s

We are asking Apple to:

 1. Rename the Files app to “Lil Finder” or “Lil’ Finder Guy” or something similar on currently separate product types: iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro

 2. Replace the current Files app icon with a new one designed in the likeness of Lil’ Finder Guy, distinct from the macOS Finder icon, true to its own character and likeness

 3. Keep all existing functionality intact, this is about identity, not a redesign of the app internals itself

 

💡 WHY IT MAKES COMPLETE SENSE

The Mac has Finder. iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro have… Files. It’s functional, but it has no soul behind it.

Lil’ Finder Guy could change that. He would give Apple’s mobile and spatial file manager the same warmth and character that makes the Mac’s “Finder” feel like home, while standing on its own as something similar but different with respect to the Original. It would further unify Apple’s ecosystem with personality and heart, and honor a character that fans have already made their own.

Apple is clearly having fun with Lil’ Finder Guy. Let’s show them we want him everywhere.
