Make it illegal to leave your dog unattended in a motor vehicle.
In the summer, it doesn’t take long for parked cars to turn deadly: On a 78-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar to between 100 and 120 degrees in just minutes, and on a 90-degree day, the interior temperature can reach as high as 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes. Leaving the windows partially open and parking in the shade do not keep vehicles cool enough to be safe. Since dogs do not perspire as humans do leaving them to roast in a car can cause death.
Animals count on us to keep them safe and there is no logical reason to leave a dog alone in a car.
This proposal would exempt RV's that have an independent means of cooling but would not allow for a person to leave their car running as a means of cooling the animal.
