is guilty of perjury and shall, except as otherwise expressly provided by law, be fined under this title, or imprisoned not more than five years, or both. This section is applicable whether the statement or subscription is made within or without the United States.

These laws were put in place to protect the people, but the same standard is not held by police. Not only do police officers break these laws every day, but they are constantly caught lying to the American people outside of the courtroom, the same people they are paid by our tax dollars to serve and protect. Things need to change.

A Police Officer is also known as a Peace Officer. The Job of a Police Officer is to Serve and Protect the American People in that Officer's Jurisdiction and uphold the law, both state and federal. A Police Officer is supposed to be someone you can trust to help you, but more often than not cops lie to you or someone you know every single day. While on duty, no cop should have the right to lie to anyone, whether it be a victim, criminal, witness, or suspect. How are We, The American People, supposed to trust the Police Officers, if they are legally allowed to lie to us and do so every single day? We, The American People, have a right to be able to trust our law enforcement officers to be truthful with us at all times.

We, The American People, demand a law stating it is illegal for a Police Officer to lie to anyone while on duty. We, The American People, need to be able to trust our law enforcement officers and have a right to know that our law enforcement officers are being honest with us.
