Two young men from East Delhi killed innocent stray dogs just for fun

One of them was running the wheels of his car on stray dogs and the other was recording thus gruesome act, later they shared this most heinous crime ऑफ theirs on instagram

This clearly shows the lack of awareness about animal laws and our cruel attitude towards the man's best Freind

Unfortunately our Indian leaders have also turned a blind eye to all these atrocities which happen on a daily basis in India

By all likelihood they have still not realized their folly and therfore are committing the same mistake again and again

Majority of the Indians know nothing about dog behaviour and instead of creating right awareness about them, the state govts are coming out with something insane

First in the race for such insanity was Uttar Pradesh and now it is Haryana

The Haryana Government has imposed a ban on pet keeping of more than one dog

Now a person living in the city of Haryana can only keep one pet dog

Also they have to put a muzzle on the dog's mouth when taking him out for a walk

This has been done to ensure that the dog does not bite anyone

The dog owner also needs to get the dog registered on the govt portal failing which he will get an imprisonment of 6 months with a fine of Rs5000

Also the govt is considering banning pit bull breed from pet keeping

Let's see the practical implications of this state order:

1 What will happen to dog owners who already have more than one dog? They might start abandoning dogs, which means more stray dogs on the streets of Haryana

2 This order is stopping a potential pet owner who has the desire and requisite resources to keep more than one dog

3 There is already hatred and fear for dogs in India, by passing such orders the govt is only validating this wrong mindset

4 A country where killers of dogs get their freedom by just paying a penalty of Rs 50  the pet owner of Haryana will get a six month imprisonment with a fine of Rs5000 for non registration of his dog

This imbalance in punishment only reflects the apathy of the govt towards animal life and animal laws

4 Dog rules 2001 apply to stray dogs of India so the Haryana Govt should have also clarified that the order is only for pet dogs and not stray dogs

After this order many people and RWAs have already started harassing the caregivers and the stray dogs in Gurgaon

It seems our leaders lack foresight and vision, atleast in the domain of animal welfare

The need of the hour is to create a congenial environment for dogs in India so that pet keeping can be encouraged and not discouraged

The state govts need to use carrot approach and not stick approach when dealing with such a sensitive issue like dog who unfortunately is seen as the man's worst enemy in India

Why in India dog is not considered the man's best friend?

Have our state govts tried to find the answer for this?

If they had the answer then their policies would have been something more humane and sensible and not the one the Haryana Govt has come out with
