Diwali is a festival of light which is celebrated throughout India. It is the day when Lord Ram with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman returned home to Ayodhya after killing the demon Ravana & living in exile for 14 long years. People in India celebrate this day by cleaning their houses, decorating them and distributing sweets and gifts to their friends and relatives. At night they light candles and lamps.

But for past several years we Indians have introduced a new ritual in celebrating Diwali and that is by burning fire crackers. The fire crackers not only pollute the air which is very harmful for us but also scare and injure stray animals and birds.

Many stray dogs run away to other places after hearing the loud sound of crackers and get lost. Seldom they come back to their home.

These dogs often meet a very sad fate. They are hounded and attacked by other dogs. Injured, hungry and thirsty they ultimately die. Some lucky ones may find some kind hearted humans who protect them from other dogs and feed them. But they are very few in number.

Some nasty humans use crackers on dogs and derive sedastic pleasure by making them suffer.

On 4th Nov 2021, the Diwali day many dogs in India lost their homes and many got injured.

One such incident took place in Khadagpur. Few Ravanas in the guise of humans tied a bomb ( fire cracker) to one the legs of a black dog . The dog lost his leg instantly as the bomb bursted. He also sustained injury in one of his eyes and other body parts (Pic in the post).

This is another case of cruelty using fire crackers in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Two men tied fire crackers to the tail of a dog and then tried to put the crackers on fire. Just watch the video to believe your eyes

A dog named Biggy is missing from an East Delhi Colony from the day of Diwali. He is 4 years old and is suffering from epilepsy. His caregiver Nikhil (M+919811763993) and his family are totally devastated. Biggy gets fits and due to epilepsy his memory has also become very poor. Nikhil used to give Biggy medicine everyday. It's been four days now after Diwali and there is no news of Biggy. How will he survive? And what if he gets fits?

What kind of a festival is this which brings misery to the voiceless?

Needless to say crackers not only make the life of stray dogs and cats a hell but also is responsible for deaths of many birds in India. The festival which is suppose to bring light in our lives has today become the reason for darkness, sadness and pollution.

Wonder if all this barbarism and cruelty will in anyway please Lord Ram.

When will the Govt say few words of kindness for these mute souls?

The Delhi Chief Minister had made an appeal to the people of Delhi to not to burn fire crackers as it would cause air pollution. But not a word for the animals and birds.

Well the people of Delhi didn't even bother for themselves and their children. It seems majority of the Indians are uneducated literates. They can only read and write but are absolutely uneducated. Had they been educated they would have not only thought about the health of their children but also about the mute animals who unfortunately are entirely dependent on us.

How cruel have we humans become and the sad part is that the Govt is hardly doing anything to educate the people of India.
