The municipal corporation of Dhanbad in Jharkhand have made a dog catching van and it's not for the purpose of sterilization. It's for catching the dogs from the city of Dhanbad and dumping them at the outskirts in jungle area. And this is being done by the orders of the municipal commissioner.
When the animal welfare activists of Dhanbad stopped the commissioner from carrying out this mindless exercise the commisioner told that the dog population has grown a lot in Dhanbad therefore this is the only solution to counter this problem. The corporation shall be relocating the dogs in jungles or outside the city area as long as the they don't get the dog house built for them. Now will someone ask the commissioner how is he controlling the dog population by dumping the dogs outside the cities? Won't they keep multiplying there? And how did he came to the decision of relocating the dogs? If the corporation is blatantly flouting dog rules then what can we say about the common man.
The dogs of India are unfortunately the victim of human menace which prevails in our system. Municipal corporations are the biggest tormentors of dogs.
It's time the govt seriously thinks of removing the corporation from carrying out ABC program. They have done more harm than any good.
Twenty dogs have already been picked up by the corporation workers in Dhanbad. If the dogs die due to starvation, thirst, injury or sickness. Who will be responsible for their death? The workers who picked up the dogs or the commissioner?
Has the municipal corporation of Dhanbad thought how will the dogs survive in jungle? How will they get their food and water? And they better know that the dogs living in towns and cities are stray dogs. They are not wild animals.
Definitely many will die after being relocated in jungle. Who will take the responsibility of their death?
On one side are the caregivers of India who put their heart and soul in trying to keep every single dog alive by providing them with food, water, medicines and security and on the other hand are these ruthless officers and municipal corporations who don't hesitate once in making their life a hell. For them dogs are nothing but a piece of filth and dirt which need to be picked up and thrown in the garbage bin outside the cities.
