There are millions of stray dogs roaming in every nook and corner of India yet the people of India are absolutely blind to their existence. They don't find them attractive, loving or friendly. On the contrary they find the dogs ugly, rabid and dirty. The dogs not only suffer human cruelty but also live in the most inhospitable conditions.
However, there is a small section of dogs which are the pedigree (foreign) breed dogs who many Indians love to buy and hence are openly bought and sold in the Indian market.
Till few days back these dogs were sold on an online marketing portal called OLX. OLX was not only selling dogs but also animal body parts which is prohibited by law. Both the sale of live animals and body parts of animals are prohibited under the pet shop rules 2018 and the Wildlife Protection Act 1972. After the intervention of the founder of PFA, Member of Parliament and former Union Minister OLX has now added the sale of live animals and the body parts of animals in its prohibited list of items.

Few people in India have no right to live freely under the open sky. Their rightful place is prison. Around six gangs are involved in illegal dog trade near Vasundhara and Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. They crop the ears of the Indian breed stray dogs and then sell them falsely as pedigree breeds for Rs. 20,000 to 30,000. This is not only bringing torture to the dog but also cheating the customer. According to the PFA Ghaziabad Head Surbhi Rawat around 50 such cases have been reported in the past but till now no police action has been taken. This week six cases were reported to them.and they have asked for police action. The police is currently investigating the case. One man has also been identified but he is on s run. Let's hope he is caught soon and put behind bars.
Till now we only knew that stray dogs in India are relocated, kicked, beaten up and killed but now we have also come to know that few crooked men have made these dogs their source of livelihood. A source which is not only illegal but also sinful. They are not only putting the dog through pain by experimenting on his body parts to make him look like a different breed but also cheating the customers. Such traders should immediately be stopped and be put behind bars.
