A man shot a stray dog with an air gun in the city of Indore. Recently the city was applauded for its love and tolerance for the stray dogs but on 24th June all that was shattered. Shoeb Naqvi a resident of Indore shot an air gun at a stray dog which hit him on his shoulder. The dog is recuperating in a veterinary hospital but his condition is bad. The bullet has still not been removed as the doctors are waiting for him to get stabilized. Let's hope the dog recovers.

The incident took place on 24th June 2020 when the unfortunate dog barked at Shoeb's pet dog. Shoeb got so irritated with his barking that he shot the gun at the dog. A complaint was filed against Shoeb by the  PFA Indore head Priyanshu Jain. Initially the police was reluctant to book him for the crime but later they booked him and got him arrested. He is out on bail now.

According to Meet Ashar an animal rights activist and. Associate manager, Emergency Response Team, Peta  the Lasudiya Police station has not booked Shoeb under relevant  sections. Sections which could increase his punishment  and deny him bail. Kindly go to the following twitter link and read what Meet Ashar has to say about the case: Also watch the pain and agony of the dog who is struggling to survive.

Apparentky Shoeb is the son of a retired judge. It must be so disheartening and depressing for the father to see his son break the law and being booked for a crime which could have easily been averted if only Shoeb was compassionate and tolerant towards stray dogs. The problem with most of the Indians is that they are completely ignorant about animal laws and think that killing them and torturing them is their birth right.

Well, being the son of a judge should not make the punishment of Shoeb any less. Justice should be done to the voiceless soul who is still struggling for survival no matter how powerful or influencial the culprit might be.

In another incident a sychotic man killed a small pup in Kutch. The man worked in a resort in Kutch in the state of Gujarat. He himself recorded the entire barbaric incident and then posted it on social media. Thereafter there was an uproar and the man was traced and arrested. There are many problems with animal.laws in India.

The first and foremost problem is that they are not implemented with true spirit. The police doesn't take animal cruelty seriously and does not file an FIR. Most of the time the cases are filed only after the intervention of NGOs like PFA, Peta etc. And many times they too find difficulty in getting the case filed.

The second problem is the lack of awareness about animal laws. Majority of the Indians are not aware of stray dog rights. They think to relocate the dog or to kill him is absolutely permissable by law.

And lastly the laws are very weak. The culprits can easily get bail by just paying  Rs. 50.

Now how shameful is that.
