On Monday 27th April 2020 the Delhi High court sent notices to the following:

1 The Ministry of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry and Dairying at the Centre

2 The Delhi Govt

3 The Animal Welfare Board of India

4 The Municipal Bodies

They have been asked to reply on the measures taken by them to feed the stray animals. To provide them with food and water. They have to submit the report by 10th June which also happens to be the day of the next hearing.

The bench comprising of Justice Siddharth Mridul and Talwant Singh issued the notices after advocate Gauri Puri pleaded for Arti Puri who has been working in the area of animal welfare for the last 15 years and after seeing the plight of stray animals in Delhi and none of the authorities doing anything for them she filed this petition.

The bench has also ordered the Delhi Govt to issue travel passes to the feeders on empathetic grounds. The order has definitely brought relief to many caregivers who due to lack of passes were unable to go long distances to feed the animals.

The bench has also asked the Animal Welfare Board of India to form a committee to ensure that food and water be supplied properly to the stray animals in India.

While the govt machinery seems to have failed the animals and the caregivers, the Judiciary of India hasn't. Indians still have a lot of faith in its judiciary.

The other class of people Indians feel proud of are its actors. One such actor was Irrfan Khan. He was not only a famous Bollywood actor but had also worked in famous Hollywood films like the Amazing spider Man, life of Pi, Jurassic World etc. Even though he was a Muslim, he never liked the religious tradition of Bakrid where the goats are sacrificed. He didn't approve of such animal sacrifices. His statements often brought ire and anger from the Muslim clerics but that never frightened him.

Unfortunately the great man is no more. He left for his heavenly abode on 29th April 2020 in Mumbai.

India has definitely lost a brave man who could speak out his mind without any fear. Very few have the courage to go against their community and tradition for the sake of the voiceless. He was not only a brilliant actor but also a great human being.

  He will always be missed..........
