On 11th February 2020 a pup was beaten up and then dropped at some park in Pitam Pura. The caregiver Mahek (M-9711883524) who is a resident of  Haiderpur, Delhi took care of two siblings one of which was beaten up and then relocated by a neighbour. The neighbour was desperately looking for the other pup to relocate her too but the caregiver hid the pup in his washroom.

The caregiver was very scared to go to the police station to lodge a complaint against his neighbour who had no fear of law and was openly boasting about his illegal act of relocating the pup in a park in Pitam Pura. And he was planning to relocate the other one too.

This is nothing new in India. The caregivers are often hesitant to go to the police station to lodge a complaint against the wrongdoers. It's a different matter that the ones who to do it also hardly receive any cooperation and support from the police. It has been seen that the police often sides with the culprits. Either due to ignorance of law or due to political pressure or pressure from powerful people of that area.

Anyhow, the caregiver kept looking for his unfortunate pup the whole day till evening.

His love and emotional bonding with the pup was so strong that early next morning before sunrise at around 5 AM on 12th March he again went to the sight where his neighbour was claiming to have dropped the pup and started searching for her. And around 8 AM his prayers were answered. He finally found his lost love.

The best part was that the pup was in perfect condition. She had no dog bites or wounds. Very often relocated dogs face hostility from the dogs of that area. The dogs attack them and bite them. Weak dogs and small pups often die of injuries and wounds after being relocated.

Relocation has become very common in India. This is the quick fix solution adopted by the majority to get rid of the dogs in their area. Whether it be a residential colony, educational institutions or an office complex.

The next quick fix solution which people are indulging in is to starve the dogs to death. They fight with the feeders for feeding the dogs. They accuse them for dog overpopulation. According to them the dogs grow in number because the feeders feed the dog. So best solution is to starve the dogs to death. Deprive them of food and water and if anyone dares to do it then abuse and assault that person.

In Khora which is a small town in Ghaziabad (Delhi, NCR) this is the quick fix solution which has been adopted by the residents of that area. Neelam a caregiver resides in East Delhi but has her school in Khora where she teaches. She goes their everyday and tries to feed as many mouths as possible. But she just cannot feed all the dogs as their number is huge. They are all malnourished and sick. The female dogs keep reproducing even in an undernourished condition. Their babies keep dying and the people of that area keep turning a blind eye. The pic in this post is of a pup in Khora who is suffering from parvo. Many pups have already died of parvo and many are suffering from this deadly disease. There is no one to give them medical treatment. The pup is just counting his days in this terrible world. For such animals death is a better option than this miserable and painful life.

No one is doing ABC programme in Khora and no one is giving the dogs food. On top of it the people there even beat the dogs. This is the message which Neelam (M- 9990151891) the categiver posted on an animal welfare group on 11th March 2020:

"Aap sabhi jaante hai Khoda jaise cruelty area m koi b feeder nahi hai, vaha dogs injured bimaar ,bhookh har dard se guzar rahe hai, itna bda or Ganda area hai jaha sb jallad rehte hai, kutto ko khana to door khde b ni hone dete ,dekhte hi Maarte hai, aise mein ye bcche kaha ja k apna pet bhare?m khud Delhi se inko feed kraane jati hu,lekin yaha adult dogs , puppies , lactating mother's ki koi ginti ni hai, bhookh se bcche Mr rahe hai,plz inke lye food help kijiye ,aap direct mjhe food de sakte hai.,eggs, bread, milk, pedigree, rusk. paytm-8700741287"

Who is responsible for all this cruelty towards the man's best friend?

society?

government?

both?
