The Maheshwar municipal Corporation in Madhya Pradesh has started following on the footsteps of Dewas municipal corporation.
They are illegally picking up the dogs and dumping them at an unknown location. There is no Sterilization centre in Maheshwar. So its quite obvious that the dogs are being dumped to eventually die of starvation.
This is all being done in the name of swachhta (cleanliness). Ever since the prime minister of India has started this initiative all the states and the municipal corporation are in a rat race to become number one in cleanliness. It is in that spirit that they are removing the man's best friend in the most illegal and cruel manner.
They are using swachhta vans which are used to pick up garbage to pick up dogs. It's quite clear that for the municipal corporations, the mayors and commissioners dogs are filth, dirt and trash.
On 17th January 2020 a caregiver of Maheshwar saw his dog being picked up in the most brutal fashion. He was an old dog who never bothered anybody but the corporation tried to pick him up with tongs which is not permissable and strangulated the dog to death.
Now who is responsible for the murder of the dog?
The commissioner, mayor or the chief minister?
The chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh has no problem with all this because it is his helpline number which is responsible for this mayhem. When will our ministers act responsibly? What kind of swachhta abhiyaan is this?????

Whether it be Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana or Delhi the situation of caregivers and the stray dog is quite the same.
The Animal welfare Board of India (AWBI) which comes under the Environment Ministry, Government of India is a body which issues guidelines and important directives regarding stray dogs in India. It's responsible for the ABC programme as it not only issues guidelines time and again to the MCD but also disburses finance to NGOs who run Sterilization centres. It is a powerful government body which has a right to take action against RWAs or any govt agency which indulges in any kind of wrong or illegal practices concerning stray dogs.
There is complete lack of awareness about the stray dog laws and the ABC programme in India. The RWAs and the municipal corporations are removing dogs, relocating them and even killing them.
What has the AWBI done till now?
Instead it is PFA (People for Animals) an NGO for animals which has always come to the rescue of both the dogs and their caregivers.
This is one such NGO which fights for the rights of animals in India and tries to bring justice to them.
The PFA Indore unit has send notices to both the Indore and Ujjain municipal corporations which mentions about dog rules and the ABC programme and warns them not relocate or remove the dogs in the name of cleanliness (swachhta).

PFA please send notices to all the municipal corporations of India. No single dog of India should be removed from their birth place in the name of swachhta.
Ideally the notices to the municipal corporations should have gone from the AWBI.
Why is it not doing anything to stop this mayhem?
Is the AWBI also silently acknowledging that the dogs are trash and a hindrance to swachhta?
