A lactating mother of 3 week old puppies has been missing since 15th January 2020 from Vasant Kunj area which is in South Delhi. The exact location is:-
Raghunath bhawan, 7 Spring Lane ( via, Green Ave Rd), Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, Delhi 110070
Shaily (M-9871566300) who is one of the caregivers of the dog and her five puppies has circulated the following message on 16th morning when all their search proved to be futile as they could not trace the mother:
"Sos ::
Someone picked a lactating mother from Basant Kunj leaving behind 3 week old pups. Need volunteer who can drop them from Basant Kunj to mundka. Please help."
All are speculating that it is the MCD or one of the NGOs which has picked the dog for Sterilization.
The caregivers are at the moment trying to find a foster home for the babies.
As per the protocol a lactating mother cannot be picked up for sterilization but who cares about the mother, her health or her babies.
The babies need mother's milk. Who will take the responsibility if the babies die? Which eventually they will if they are not reunited with their mother soon.
If the mother is not found and if the babies do not find a home then by all probability the babies will die. Even the weather is not congenial in Delhi. It's quite cold and at present raining in Delhi.
Another horrifying incident of the dog killing sterilization drive has come into light from sector 27 Rohini in North Delhi.
The caregiver who feeds those dogs has reported that few days back the MCD picked up a few dogs from their area. Some have not yet returned and those who have returned are sick, badly infected and have open stitches. Also according to him the MCD once took a pregnant dog who never came back.

The MCD in Delhi has become a killing factory for the stray dogs. Imagine if the caregivers are not there majority of the dogs post Sterilization would have died.
Is that record being maintained by the MCD?
MCD is just busy in meeting their targets. They damn care whether the dogs are sick, pregnant or lactating. They just have to show to the government that they have done a commendable job by sterillizing xyz number of dogs.
And what is the government doing? Trying to make Delhi a smart city and a clean city by killing dogs?
Some help they are already getting from the RWA and the rest of it they are getting it from the MCD . That too officially in the garb of sterilization.
If the government considers dogs as filth and dirt then God alone save people of India.
By the way it would be really nice if the MCD starts maintaining a record of the number of dogs who die post Sterilization and dogs who never reach back home just because they have been dropped at a wrong location?
It happens so many times that a dog is wrongly dropped post Sterilization and then all the dogs of the territory hound him and injure him badly. Their life becomes worse than death and many of them die because of injuries, sickness and starvation.
What kind of government initiative is this?
Either replace MCD with some other nodal agency which will work in a more compassionate manner or bring reforms in the way ABC programme is being run by the MCD.
Even today it is the caregivers who are running from pillar to post to find the disappeared lactating mother and trying to arrange a foster home for the puppies. Again it is the caregiver of Rohini who is trying to save his dogs from infection and sickness post sterilization then why aren't these caregivers taken into confidence before picking up the dogs and while dropping the dogs back?
What is stopping the government and the MCD to bring such a minor change in the system?
Why isn't a collaboration being made between the colony RWA / caregiver and the Sterilization centres so that every caregiver would know exactly where their dogs have been taken for Sterilization.
This way no lactating mother, pregant dogs and sick dogs will ever be taken for Sterilization and there will be no wrong drop of dogs post Sterilization.
