The Issue

We, the undersigned, call for a safer, more transparent, and more accountable internet — one where every user is government‑verified before accessing social media, job platforms, messaging services, and all major online spaces.

For too long, the digital world has been a breeding ground for anonymous predators, trolls, stalkers, scammers, paedophiles, and organised criminal networks. Hidden behind fake names and disposable accounts, they exploit the lack of accountability to harm innocent people every single day.

Enough is enough.

Why Government Verification Is Necessary
The internet is the only major public space where a person can interact with millions of others without proving they are who they claim to be. This loophole enables:

  • Online crime — fraud, identity theft, financial scams
  • Harassment and stalking — often impossible to trace
  • Child exploitation — predators thrive in anonymity
  • Trolling and abuse — causing real psychological harm
  • Fake accounts and bots — manipulating public opinion and spreading misinformation

A verified identity system would dramatically reduce these harms by ensuring every user is traceable, accountable, and responsible for their online behaviour.

What We Are Calling For
We demand legislation requiring:

  • Government‑issued identity verification for all users of major online platforms
  • Platform‑level enforcement to prevent unverified access
  • Strict penalties for platforms that fail to comply
  • Privacy‑protected verification systems that confirm identity without exposing personal data publicly
This is not about surveillance. This is about safety, transparency, and accountability.

The Benefits Are Clear
Mandatory verification would:

Reduce online crime by making offenders identifiable
Protect children from predators
Stop trolls and abusers from hiding behind anonymity
Prevent fake accounts, bots, and impersonation
Restore trust in online communities
Create a healthier, more respectful digital environment for everyone
The internet has evolved — our laws must evolve with it.

Our Message to Lawmakers
We urge our government to take immediate action to protect citizens from the growing wave of online harm. The tools exist. The technology exists. The need is undeniable.

It is time to bring clarity, transparency, and accountability to the digital world.

Sign this petition and help build an internet where safety is the standard — not the exception.
