Make hospice funding a national priority
The Issue
Today, the United Kingdom has a new Prime Minister.
At the same time, hospice leaders across the United Kingdom have begun publicly sharing their own messages with our new Prime Minister, calling for sustainable hospice funding.
I don’t believe they should have to stand alone.
Over recent months, almost 300 Parliamentarians from across the House of Commons and House of Lords, representing every major political party, have also added their voices in support of sustainable hospice funding.
Now it is our turn to stand alongside them.
This petition is designed not only to collect signatures, but to give everyone the opportunity to add their own voice to this growing national call.
For the thousands of patients and families who today cannot access the hospice care they need, will you lend your voice?
This isn’t about politics.
- It isn’t about one hospice.
- It isn’t about one organisation.
It is about standing alongside every hospice, every family, every volunteer and every healthcare professional who believes everyone deserves compassionate, specialist end-of-life care.
Together, we can amplify the message hospice leaders are already sharing and send one simple, united message to our new Prime Minister:
“Dear Prime Minister, please make sustainable hospice funding a national priority, because EVERY hospice matters.”
The Action
1) Please add your name.
2) Please share this petition.
When you sign, you'll also have the opportunity to add a comment or upload your own short video so your own voice becomes part of this national call for change.
Because together, our voices are stronger: Because EVERY hospice matters.
Every empty hospice bed represents someone who may soon need specialist end-of-life care. Hospice buildings alone don’t care for patients. The doctors, nurses and specialist teams who work within them do. This petition invites the whole country to stand alongside them and help amplify their message.
The following have kindly agreed to become the first Parliamentarians to lend their names to this public appeal.
House of Commons
Alison Bennett MP • Bambos Charalambous MP • Lee Pitcher MP • Wera Hobhouse MP • Helen Morgan MP • John McDonnell MP • Kate Osamor MP • Sir Desmond Swayne MP • Iqbal Mohamed MP
House of Lords
Lord Alton • Lord Ashcombe • Lord Brady • Lord Foulkes • Lord Hunt • Lord Pannick KC • Lord Polak • Baroness Morris • Baroness Lister
