Safety, Noise, Wildlife, the Environment and local’s Happiness are obviously not as important as allowing people to have fun with their ‘sea-scooters’! I have seen porpoises with propellor cuts from boats dead on the beach myself before and it’s only a matter of time before someone swimming on Harlech beach is killed or seriously injured by power craft, in particular jet-skis, that regularly come close to the shoreline, often at high speeds and certainly not at the current 4kt limit applicable within 100m of the ‘low water mark’. Problems are regularly reported to officials but unless you have the boat I.D. and evidence, assuming they’ve actually registered and have a permit required to launch a vessel, nothing ever happens. This area is a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), so why polluting powered craft are valued more than the environment and wildlife is very confusing. The noise from these whining machines is also a pain for local residents who pay high taxes to live in peace in the area. Please support this petition so we can prioritise what’s important above people’s right to just have fun!
