If you’re a green lantern fan you should know how much ingrained Hal is to the mythos, arguably as much as Bruce Wayne is to Batman. Yes there’s been other characters to bear the mantle after him but none have nowhere near the same level of importance he does. From the comics Hal has been the first ever human to be inducted into the Corps to the Greatest Green Lantern of them all. He’s been at the forefront of many stories such as Sinestro Corps War or Blackest Night. So the rumors that James Gunn is looking for John Stewart to be the main Green Lantern of the DCU while Hal himself is the older mentor does not sit right.
