There should be one webpage on a university's page that lists the procedure, deadline, and fee for each Master's & PhD program. Furthermore this should be the same page for each separate program at ALL universities.

Applicants have 3 major questions:

What is the application deadline?

How much is the application fee?

What is the actual step-by-step application process?

This information is never all on one page, it requires hunting to find the page that gives an overview, and that is always missing at least one of those three pieces of information.

While we recognize that not all programs are the same, therefore a university may have a hard time having one application for all programs, this petition is not trying to do that. This petition is to simplify the application for each program across institutions. So the application process for each separate Master's or PhD will be the same application process at all universities. This makes logical and conceptual sense. The education for Counseling Psychology (or Civil Engineering, or Marine Biology etc) is fundamentally the same at all institutions so there are no fundamentally different requirements, hence the certification of the program. In short, it is not appropriate for universities offering the same program to have vastly different admission procedures!

Universities may state that that variability is part of their quality control process, however we all know that if they are accredited for that program, then they meet quality criteria and having a different process is not adding to the quality of the program.
