Make Google remove the "Verify It's You" process to save locked out accounts
The Issue
While Google's "Verify It's You" process may be considered an upgrade in terms of security, it also creates problems in regards to accessing personal accounts. There are people who know their own emails and passwords, but are sent to a menu where they must prove ownership of their account through various means (i.e. recovery email/number).
- But what if they do not have access to those recovery emails/numbers anymore?
- What if they were using the same familiar network to log in all the time, yet now their accounts immediately get locked out?
- What if they get sent into an endless loop of errors forcing them to go through the same process over and over?
- What if they aren't able to send verification codes to any registered number available instead of the already-saved recovery number? (assume that it has been forgotten, and that that specific option is not available globally)
Because of this, countless people have lost their Gmail accounts with no way of bringing them back, forcing them to start over with little-to-no things carried over from their previous locked out accounts, like what happened to me just a few days ago. When I was locked out, I couldn't access my personal media accounts to contact family or friends anymore, as when I attempted to log in, they always send a verification code to the email I was just locked out of. The same applies to my YouTube and many more (with the exception of a few platforms as they don't bring up a message when I do log in)
If this petition does succeed, at least everyone won't have to go crazy over losing their accounts forever anymore.
