As avid lacrosse players, we appreciate the camaraderie, skill, and healthy competition our sport cultivates. However, in our community, the girls' lacrosse practices are given noticeably less time than the boys' lacrosse practices, creating an unjust division, and potentially diminishing our growth and progress in the sport. Women's sports, including lacrosse, have been gaining popularity and recognition over the years. According to US Lacrosse, the number of girls participating in high school lacrosse has increased by 31% in the past five years (US Lacrosse Participation Survey, 2016). Yet, in many places, gender inequalities in sports persist, as we personally have experienced. Offering equal practice time aids in breaking down gender barriers, while promoting and acknowledging the dedication and talent of female athletes. We hope to see the reallocation of lacrosse practice time, recognizing the equality between boys' and girls' teams.
