Help Make FM 314 & Highway 64 Safer

The intersection of FM 314 and Highway 64 in Van Zandt County, Texas has become a serious safety concern for the people who travel through it every day.

According to crash data gathered for the area within approximately 500 feet of the intersection, there were 46 reported crashes from 2021 through September 20, 2026.

Among those crashes:

3 were fatal crashes
10 involved suspected serious injuries
32 involved failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign
These aren't just numbers. They represent real people, real families, and a community that deserves to feel safe traveling through this intersection.

Anyone familiar with this intersection knows how difficult it can be to cross or turn onto Highway 64 from FM 314. We should not have to wait for another serious injury or loss of life before this intersection receives a thorough safety evaluation.

What We Are Asking For
We are asking the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to conduct a formal traffic-signal warrant and intersection safety study at FM 314 and Highway 64 and to install a traffic signal if the engineering study determines that signalization is warranted and would improve safety and traffic operations.

We also ask TxDOT to evaluate any additional safety improvements that could reduce crashes at this intersection.

This petition isn't about inconveniencing drivers or placing a traffic light simply because we want one. It is about asking transportation officials to examine the crash history, traffic conditions, and safety of this intersection and take appropriate action.

Please sign this petition if you believe FM 314 and Highway 64 deserves a comprehensive safety evaluation.

Whether you drive through this intersection every day, have witnessed an accident there, know someone who has been involved in one, or simply want safer roads in Van Zandt County, your voice matters.

Please sign and share this petition with your family, friends, neighbors, and local community.

Together, we can show that our community wants action before another life is changed forever.
