Every day, animals are killed in in animal shelters, because the shelters refuse to use the funds available to expand their facilities. This is a barbaric and outdated method for dealing with overcrowding.

Many shelters enforce an absurd 60-90 day "adoption window" during which time, if the animal in question is not adopted, the animal will be put to sleep. Most of these animals are not even fully grown when they are killed.

Worse, many adults refuse to accept responsibility for the care and maintenance of an animal after he/she has been adopted. So in lieu of giving the animal up for adoption, many owners just have the animals killed during times in which said owner is either looking to move, going through a life change, or otherwise cannot be bothered to find a replacement home for said animal.

Let's ask Congress to pass a law that would ban Vets and Shelters from killing animals, except for cases where an animal is a legitimate danger to humans.
