Myself and my husband run the Railway Inn, next to Eureka Park in Swadlincote. We have had many visits from the police in recent times concerning safety issues in and around the park. 

We are working alongside community officers to try and persuade the council to install lighting and CCTV in what is otherwise a dark, unmonitored and potentially dangerous night time thoroughfare.

The recent increase in violent crime in Eureka Park has led us to want to take action in order to protect the local community as well as our own family. 

CCTV will serve as a detterant to some.of the members of our community that think carrying a knife is acceptable, worse, that using it is OK.

Lighting will eliminate a lot of the hiding places in the park and help to provide a safer environment for all concerned.
